The 20^th Cyprus Film Days International Festival, the official competitive festival of Cyprus, is gearing up for its upcoming edition, which will run from 8-16 April (see the news). The third edition of Dot.on.the.map Industry Days, the co-production, training and networking platform that constitutes an integral part of the festival, will be held physically for the first time from 14-16 April.

Danae Stylianou, head of Dot.on.the.map, mentioned: “Dot.on.the.Map Industry Days launched its inaugural edition amidst the start of the pandemic in 2020, and two years later, we are finally able to host our very first on-site edition. This fact alone, the coming together of film professionals from across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, gives us an immense amount of joy and inspiration! We can't wait to welcome all participating professionals to the island of Cyprus, for the very first on-site edition of Dot.on.the.Map Industry Days.”

The organisers have chosen seven fiction feature-film projects at the development and financing stage, all hailing from the Mediterranean region. The participating directors will be tutored for the pitching sessions by Isabelle Fauvel (of Initiative Film, France). The pitching sessions will feature an audience of film professionals (producers, sales agents and film-festival representatives).

Furthermore, a three-member jury, comprising producer Dominique Welinski (DW Films, France), producer Fabian Gasmia (DETAiLFILM, Germany) and sales agent Xavier Henry-Rashid (Film Republic, UK), will decide on the winners of this edition. The laureate of the Best Project Award will receive lighting and grip equipment rental worth €8,000, courtesy of PS Movies & Stories Cinema Equipment Rental Ltd; another project will receive the Agora Networking Award, courtesy of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, which includes accommodation and a free market accreditation for the winning producer, while the MFI Script Consultation Award includes a consultation session with MFI trainer Ana Sanz Magallon.

A series of events and master classes intended exclusively for industry professionals will be announced soon. The organisers are also providing free accreditations to film professionals actively working in the film industry in the Republic of Cyprus.

The event is organised by the Cyprus Film Days International Festival, the Cyprus Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth and the Rialto Theatre, in partnership with the Thessaloniki International Film Festival’s Agora.
