The 18th edition of Canary Islands International Film Market (CIIF) the festival will be held from 22 to 27 November in the sunny city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. National and international projects for feature-length fiction, documentary films, TV movies, TV series and miniseries (fiction and non-fiction) in the development phase and with a financing plan with at least 20% already secured can register for the event.

A maximum of 12 projects will be selected to participate in the National and International Section and up to five Canary Island projects will be presented in the Focus Canarias section. Consideration will be given to whether it is the first time the project has been presented at a forum, whether the production company has made at least one international co-production, innovation in formats as well as previous work by the director and/or producer. The selection will try to find a balance between commercial and creative risk. Projects must be recent and unreleased and must not have exhausted all possible avenues of funding.

Production companies and auteurs interested in participating in the 18th CIIF Market can send their projects until 7th October via the CIIF Market website. And participants will have the chance to schedule personalised appointments and pitching sessions with audiovisual industry professionals and invited recipients to co-produce their projects. They will also be able to access all activities at the market.

In addition, CIIF Market 2022 will award a number of prizes for which participants will be eligible: the project with greatest international reach, with a cash prize to attend an international market of their choice; Canary Islands Film Award for the best Canary Islands project, which will reward the winner with a travel bag to attend a sectoral market; Filmarket Hub Award, consisting of free registration for one year to its platform; Macaronesia Films Award for the project with the greatest international potential, financial and legal advice ("project finance") regarding tax incentives in the Canary Islands; Music Library & SFX Award where the winner will have a free flat-rate production, which will allow the synchronisation of production music from the Music Library & SFX catalogues in the content of the project; and the MAFIZ Award (Malaga Festival Industry Zone), to attend the event next year, with exclusive access to all its activities, conferences, forums and masterclasses.

CIIF Market is a key event for the audiovisual industry in the Canary Islands, both nationally and internationally, to attract production partners, find new projects and promote the islands for its filming and tax benefits. It aims to create synergies between creatives (auteurs, scriptwriters, filmmakers), production companies, television channels, distributors, sales agents and other industry professionals in order to promote audiovisual creation and encourage co-production for the European and international markets.
