scheda film] from Italian filmmaker Emanuele Crialese (discovered in Competition in Venice) will tomorrow open the 44th Montpellier Mediterranean Film Festival, which will take place from 21 to 29 October with three filmmakers as guests of honour (Spanish director Icíar Bollaín, French-Moroccan director Simon Bitton and French-Tunisian director Abdellatif Kechiche who will take part in a masterclass) and a retrospective of 15 films dedicated to Napolitan director Francesco Rosi.

Standing out among the 200 films in the programme are the 9 fiction features competing for the 2022 Antigone d'or, which will be handed out by a jury headed by the duo composed of Rachida Brakni and Éric Cantona (alongside directors Delphine Gleize and Chloé Mazlo, and musician Piers Faccini).
