Vento di novità oggi a Parigi con l'annuncio dei film selezionati per il concorso ufficiale della 60ma edizione del Festival di Cannes (dal 16 al 27 maggio).

Svelata a mezzogiorno da Thierry Frémeaux, direttore artistico del festival, la lista dei 22 film include numerosi registi giovani e non comprende gli attesi Kitano, Hou Hsiao Hsien, Roy Andersson, Claude Miller e Todd Haynes. Un duello di profila tra Europa e Stati Uniti che contano rispettivamente dieci e sei film, mentre gli asiatici sono solo quattro (il cinese Wong Kar Wai in apertura, la giapponese Naomi Kawase e i coreani Lee Chang-dong e Kim ki-duk); figurano poi un messicano (Carlos Reygadas) e un inatteso franco-israeliano (Raphael Nadjari). E l'est del Vecchio Continente sbarca in forze con il bosniaco Emir Kusturica, l'ungherese Bela Tarr, la sorpresa romena Cristian Mungiu e i due russi Andrey Zvyagintsev e Alexandre Sokourov. E poi ancora il turco-tedesco Fatih Akin e l'austriaco Ulrich Seidl, senza dimenticare la delegazione francese che comprende Christophe Honoré, Catherine Breillat e il duo Marjane Satrapi - Vincent Paronnaud con un film d'animazione. Ma gli americani non sono da meno con gli habitué Gus Van Sant, Quentin Tarantino e i fratelli Coen accompagnati da James Gray, David Fincher e Julian Schnabel (per una produzione francese). Da notare anche la presenza fuori concorso del britannico Michael Winterbottom e delle star Usa Michael Moore e Steven Soderbergh, per un'edizione del festival che si presenta all'insegna dell'audacia.
