Cell 211 sweeps up more prizes on way to Goyas

continues to sweep up accolades and, along with over €11m in takings and the honour of having created a memorable character (Malamadre), it has earned the title of Spanish Film of the Year.

In a rare occurrence, Daniel Monzón’s film has been a success with both critics and audiences, and has also received industry approval. Rights management bodies (EGEDA), exhibitors (NACAE) and screenwriters (CEC) all named it Best Film of the Year. Moreover; Pedro Pérez, president of FAPAE (Spanish Producers’ Federation), described it a few days ago as “a complete film”.
