Cannes Film Festival delegate general Thierry Frémaux said: "Midnight in Paris is a wonderful love letter to Paris. It’s a film in which Woody Allen delves deeper into the issues raised in his recent films: our relationship with history, art, pleasure and life. For his 41st feature, he once again shows great inspiration."

Distributed by Mars Films, the film will be released in French theatres on the day of its Cannes screening. The opening ceremony will also be made available to all theatres that request it. This initiative by the festival (in agreement with partner Canal + and with support from the National Federation of French Cinemas) aims to "show its strong links with theatres and their audiences and draw attention to the films in selection."
