Boyer dismissed from Directors’ Fortnight

by

Today, the French Society of Film Directors (SRF), which organises the Directors’ Fortnight, officially announced its decision not to re-appoint Frédéric Boyer as delegate general of the famous Cannes sidebar.

The news, which had been circulating behind the scenes for the past few days, comes as no real surprise since Boyer (who wasn’t part of the inner circle of film critics), had come up against a strong underlying hostility since his appointment two years ago when Olivier Père left for Locarno. The SRF has launched its recruitment campaign for the vacant post of delegate general for the 2012 edition of the Directors’ Fortnight. Applications (CV or details of professional background and a cover letter outlining ideas) should be sent by email to contact@la-srf.fr until July 8, 2011. Interviews will follow in the week of July 18-22.
