Dutch filmmaker David Lammers has started principal photography on his feature length debut Langer licht ("Longer light") in the Netherlands last week. The screenplay, written by the director, follows Lucien, the owner of a boxing school. He lives to train his pupils but breaks down when he discovers that his 15-year-old son Mitchel has gone over to the other side. He will need to face the death of his wife and daughter before he can take on Mitchel again; until that time, the adolescent boy will be on his own. Langer licht is set in the North of the Dutch capital Amsterdam and takes place during summer.

Lammers has previously directed several prize-winning short films, and has won amongst others the national Dutch film prize the Golden Calf for best short subject. Langer Licht is being produced as part of a four film series called "De oversteek" ("The crossing"), which is supported by Dutch public broadcaster VPRO and the Nederlands Fonds voor de Film (Dutch Film Fund). film profile] and the upcoming Simone van Dusseldorp drama Diep. Motel Films, who previously produced some of Lammers' shorts, is also attached as a producer. 1 More Film will distribute the film domestically, though no release date has as yet been announced.
