NEW RELEASES Italy

Sabina is all for Zapatero

by

Among today's releases, Lucky Red is launching Viva Zapatero!, by Sabina Guzzanti, a film warmly applauded when presented on the 9th September at the Venice Film Festival. 'For the moment, we are distributing the film in major cities,' Andrea Occhipinti (the distributor) explains, 'but considering the demands I keep receiving since the film's warm reception, we will probably have to make more prints.'

This documentary is a tribute to freedom of speech for the press and satirical papers, since it shows what happened to Raitre 'Raiot''s programme, cancelled because of an argument with the Mediaset group (owned by Silvio Berlusconi) who accused it of slander. 'I had the idea to make this documentary when the court decided against Mediaset. My film is not against Berlusconi; I do not think he is a genius of evil ¬ ¬—he is hardly a genius at all. My film attacks a degenerated system capable of giving anybody the power to do anything.'
The international sales of this film co-produced by Guzzanti (Studio 1, Secol Superbo et Sciocco Produzioni) are handled by the French company Wild Bunch.
