25 Italian films for the London Fest’s 50th edition

There will be a significant Italian presence at the upcoming Times BFI London Film Festival, to be held in the UK capital from October 18-November 2 at the National Film Theatre (see article). There are, in fact, 25 titles throughout the various sections of the prestigious festival’s 50th anniversary.

Films on the Square features three titles that have significantly contributed to the quality of recent Italian cinema: The Family Friend by Paolo Sorrentino, which will be released in Italy by Fandango on November 10 Fandango, The Caiman [+see also:

World Cinema features the co-production Born and Bred by Pablo Trapero and the Esperimenta section, the short co-production Proprio Aperto [lit. “Really Open”] by Judith Hopf, Nayascha Sadr Haghighian, Florian Zeyfang.

Lastly, this year’s festival is paying homage to master filmmaker Vittorio De Seta with the screening of Bandits of Orgosolo and ten of his short films in the Treasure From Archives section.
