Belgian filmmakers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne have received co-production and pre-sales support from Arte France Cinéma, as well as from Eurimages (see news), for their new project Le silence de Lorna.

The film will be produced in France by Archipel 35 (40%). Denis Freyd’s outfit has already worked on the Dardenne’s first two features: The Child [+see also:

The Arte France Cinéma selection committee also gave the green light to Louise-Michel, Gustave Kervern and Benoît Delépine’s third feature after Aaltra (selected at Rotterdam 2004) and Avida [+see also:

Starring Yolande Moreau, Bouli Lanners, Benoît Poelvoorde and Albert Dupontel, the MNP Entreprise title produced by Mathieu Kassovitz will begin filming on August 10.

The Franco-German broadcaster’s selection also includes Karim Dridi’s Khamsa (a Mirak Films production). Selected at Venice in 1994 with his feature debut Pigalle, the director went on to make Bye-Bye (1995 Cannes Un Certain Regard entry), Foul Play (competition entry at Locarno 1998) and Rage (2003 Berlin Panorama title).

The fourth and last project of this summer session funded by Arte France Cinéma is Mascarades (a Dharamsala production), the debut feature by Lyes Salem, who won a Best Short Cesar in 2005.
