Co-written by the director and Mabrouk El Mechri (JCVD [+see also:

), the film centres on Elias (Marmaï), a former criminal who is coming to the end of a two-year parole period spent working as a nurse in the emergency department of a hospital.

But Elias’ leaving party turns to disaster with the arrival of his former accomplice Rudy (Lecluyze), who has suffered a car accident and is pursued by the police and the gangsters from whom he has taken some stolen jewels.

The director says the storyline is "somewhere between Guy Ritchie’s Snatch, Georges Lautner’s Let’s Not Get Angry and US series Grey's Anatomy and ER."

Produced by Stéphane Marsil and Clément Miserez for Gaumont, Diamants sur ordonnance had a six-week shoot, with one week in Paris and five around Angoulême, in particular at L'Isle-d'Espagnac private general hospital. Backed by the Poitou-Charentes Region and the Charente department, the film will be released domestically next year and is sold internationally by Gaumont.
