In force at Montréal

Benelux has arrived in force with several films at Montreal World Film Festival which kicks off its 29th edition today and runs until the 5th of September Three films are in the world competition. Assistant to Jean-Jacques Andrien (Australia) and to Stijn Coninx (Hector), Frank van Mechelen brings to Québec The Intruder, first feature in which a man searches for his lost daughter, arriving in a little village to confront hostile locals. De Indringer is a co-production by Skyline Entertainment, supported by the Flemish Audiovisual fund, organisation charged with support for the Flemish film community.
Still in the world competition section, Off Screen from Dutchman Pieter Kuijers (as reported in Cineuropa recently new projects) made a film about a hostage taking on the "11th" of March on a "Tour" of Amsterdam by a man who suddenly goes crazy. Interpreted by Ariane Ascaride and featuring Sophie Quinton (Qui a tué Bambi? by Gilles Marchand ; Peau de vache, first short film by the very talented Gérald Hustache-Matthieu), young French actress with a promising career ahead, the film recounts the story of a young woman who, in order to finance her beauty salon, signs up for a beauty contest.
