Toronto–Venice: hits from Celluloïd Dreams

Back from the festivals at Venice and Toronto where many of its films featured in the programmes, Celluloïd Dreams, the French international sales company headed by Hengameh Panahi summed up for Cineuropa the very satisfying set of results from the two events.

by Laurent Cantet which was bought for numerous territories: Germany (Alamode Film), Austria (Polyfilm), Belgium (Cinéart), Switzerland (Frenetic Films), Sweden (Non Stop), Danemark (Camera Film), Italy (Mikado), Greece (Audio Visual), Portugal (Atalanta Filmes), Israel, Russia, Canada, Argentina and Brazil. And negotiations are underway for the UK, and the USA should be tied up by the AFM (2 - 5 November).

Outside of films from the Old Continent, Celluloïd Dreams also recorded excellent sales with the Indian feature Water by Deepa Mehta (bought for Germany, Spain, Austria, Greece, all of eastern Europe, South America and Australia), with the reassembled version of Three Times by Hou Hsia-hsien (Belgium, Portugal, UK, Israël, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Thaïland, Argentina) and also the sure-fire Takeshis’ by Takeshi Kitano which was sold throughout the world, notably in France to (ARP Sélection), UK (Artificial Eye), Switzerland (Frenetic) and Spain (Vertigo Films), and negotiations are underway in the USA.
