Dreamachine boards Link’s Aftermath

Sales powerhouse Dreamachine announced today in Cannes that it is handling world sales on Caroline Link’s new contemporary drama Aftermath, co-produced by Germany’s Constantin Film and Bavaria Film.

Based on the novel by Scott Campbell, Aftermath is written and directed by Link, who won an Oscar for Nowhere in Africa [+see also:

in 2001. It is the story of a woman (Corinna Harfouch) who approaches the painter Max Hollander (Josef Bierbichler) and asks him for a portrait of her two children: her 22 year-old daughter Lilli (Karoline Herfurth), a talented dancer, and her 19 year-old son, who has recently died in a tragic accident. As he can only work from photos of the boy, he invites the daughter to his studio to better understand both of his subjects. When she turns up at the artist’s studio to sit for him, he discovers that the girl is in emotional turmoil.

As he struggles to perfect the dual portrait the stormy interaction between artist and subject reveals the intense psychological profile of a complex family. As Max slowly understands the depth of the relationship between Lili and her brother, he too is affected and changed by this most unusual of commissions.

), and executive produced by Robert Cort (Runaway Bride) and Scarlett Lacey (Save the Last Dance).

Dreamachine CEO Tim Haslam and his strong sales team will start negotiating the film in Cannes from their office at 2, La Croisette.
