Nanni Moretti has stepped down as Artistic Director of the Turin Film Festival to get back behind the camera and shoot the film whose script he is said to be writing already. "I am pleased to be offered this opportunity, but I’m afraid I can no longer guarantee the TFF the same amount of attention and the same energy ", he said after mulling over the decision for a few days.

The runaway success of the festival’s latest edition, which wrapped on November 29, had made Moretti’s reconfirmation as festival head likely. Current TFF coordinator Emanuela Martini could get the nod to fill his shoes.
