Adapted by the director and Hélène Devynck from the autobiographical story by the journalist Florence Aubenas, the screenplay focuses on the writer Marianne Winckler, who decides to live life as a jobseeker for six months, spending time with other women who alternate between unstable jobs and periods of unemployment.

Produced by Olivier Delbosc for Curiosa Films and by David Gauquié and Julien Deris for Cinéfrance Studios, Between Two Worlds was co-produced by France 3 Cinéma and Mars Films (which will be distributing the film in France). Pre-purchased by OCS and Canal+, the feature film also received an advance on earnings from the CNC, the Region of Normandy, Sofica La Banque Postale Image and Manon. The shoot is due to wrap on 20 April and will take place in Normandy (in Caen and Cherbourg), the region of Paris and on a ferry between the Netherlands and England, with Patrick Blossier (nominated for a César Award in 1988, 2003 and 2007) on board as the director of photography. International sales are being handled by France Télévisions Distribution.
