Shoot about to get under way for As Far as I Know
Directors Nándor Lőrincz and Bálint Nagy

The first clapperboard will slam on 20 July for As Far as I Know by Nándor Lőrincz and Bálint Nagy, who have so far teamed up to direct five short films since their studies at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest (the former in the screenplay department and the latter in the cinematography faculty), and who are now getting stuck into their first feature-length film.

The cast is toplined by Balázs Bodolai (a seasoned theatre actor who turned heads in the world of cinema in Sarajevo Songs of Woe [+see also:

Written by the directors and based on a real-life event, the film's storyline adopts an unusual point of view, as it follows a sexual assault investigation as seen through the eyes of the victim's husband. This will cause a series of disturbing and unexpected details to emerge. Dénes (Balázs Bodolai) and Nóra (Gabriella Hámori) have spent years trying to adopt a baby, and now they are finally given the chance to become parents to an orphan. But one night, Nóra is sexually abused by a stranger. The police cannot do anything, as she is the only witness to the crime, and there is no further evidence to support her case. The couple faces the culture of victim-blaming, which also destroys the trust in their marriage.

Produced by Mónika Mécs and Ernő Mesterházi for M&M Film, by Ágnes Pataki and Gábor Kovács for PartnersFilm, and by Zoltán Mártonffy (working independently), As Far as I Know is being co-produced by St. Audio and by Romania’s Chainsaw Europe Studio. The project has been supported via the Hungarian National Film Fund’s Incubator programme and also emerged victorious at the Transilvania Pitch Stop. The shoot will take place in Budapest from 20 July-19 August before wrapping with three days of filming from 16-18 September. Interestingly, the cinematography will be handled by Bálint Nagy himself. The Hungarian distribution and international sales are still under negotiation.
