to tell the crazy tale of the golden age of the legendary Antwerp-based nightclub of the same name.

The film spirits us back to 1997 and to the glory and decadence experienced by a nightclub owner. An IT genius with a flair for business, Frank Verstraeten is fascinated by nightlife. He dreams of owning his own nightclub and of crushing, or rather, annihilating the competition. A revolving dancefloor, laser shows, fireworks… Zillion will be a feast for the eyes. To give himself the best possible chance of success, Frank forges an alliance with local porno king Dennis Black Magic so as to ensure the presence of the most beautiful women in the kingdom. Sex, drugs and techno music reign supreme. But with success comes jealousy, and it doesn’t take long for Frank to make enemies, among his employees and competitors alike.

After directing The Silencing, an American-Canadian co-production starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Annabelle Wallis and Hero Fiennes-Tiffin, Zillion sees Robin Pront returning to an area which holds a special place in his heart: the world of 90s techno music, which we already heard in The Ardennes.

Stepping into the lead role, we find young Belgian actor Matteo Simoni, hereby confirming his rising star status within the national film landscape. Revealed to the public by way of Stijn Coninx’s Marina [+see also:

. This larger-than-life role might just establish him definitively in the world of cinema. Simoni is joined by a string of talented Flemish actors/actresses, including Charlotte TimmersBarbara Sarafian and Geert Van Rampelberg.

Zillion is produced by FBO, Woestijnvis (Belgium) and Millstreet Films (the Netherlands). Kinepolis will distribute the movie in Belgium for a release planned for October 2022.
