, the French production, distribution and international sales company Alfama Films is again launching itself into an adaptation of a novel by American author Don DeLillo. This time, it is The Body Artist, with David Cronenberg not behind but in front of the camera, alongside Isabelle Huppert (soon on the bill of The Nun [+see also:

). With pre-sales to be launched by Paulo Branco at the European Film Market of the 63rd Berlinale (February 7th to 17th, 2013), the project will be directed by Luca Guadagnino of Italy (photo - noticed in Venice in 2009 for I am Love [+see also:

Written by the filmmaker, the screenplay is centered around Laura, a Body Art performer, who discovers after the death of her husband that she is not alone in her mourning, with her body to be disciplined and her time to be organized. There's an intruder in the house, a squatter whose origins are unknown, a strange, somewhat unfinished being….

Alfama Films, which will also launch the sales in Berlin of Cadences obstinées by Fanny Ardant (currently in shooting – article), will offer the market three other projects whose production is being handled by the company. The Franco-Austrian feature The Giacomo Variations by Michael Sturminger will blend fiction and opera with John Malkovitch topping the bill, a tale recounting the adventures of Casanova (shooting scheduled for summer 2013). ), Céline SaletteJean-Pierre Darroussin and Sophie Quinton in a movie revolving around a character finding it hard to to accept his gift as a healer. Finally, Grégoire Leprince-Ringuet should be making his debut as a feature-length director next summer with La Forêt de quinconces.

Worth noting: at the European Film Market, Alfama Films will also be screening Photo by Portuguese director Carlos Saboga, discovered at the Rome Film Festival (review).
