film profile] comes back with a film described by Edouard Waintrop, the general delegate of the Directors’ Fortnight, as "a chimera, half way between a realist film and a fantasy cartoon". The cast notably features Robin Wright, Harvey Keitel, Paul Giamatti and Danny Huston.

In the screenplay (based on the novel The Futorological Congress by Polish author Stanislas Lem), Robin Wright (in her own role), is offered by Miramount to be numerically scanned, so that they can freely use her image in cinema productions. 20 years later, she is the guest of honour at the Nagasaki Miramount Congress, which has become a global conglomerate, and which presents its latest invention: to be able to live through your own film on demand, with a simple prescription...

The Congress is a coproduction between Germany, Luxembourg, France, Poland, Belgium and Israel, and has been produced by Pandora, Birgit Folman Film Gang, Entre Chien et Loup, Paul Thiltges Distribution, ARP Sélection, France 2 Cinéma, Opus Film, la RTBF and Belgacom, with funding from Eurimages amongst others.
