, an unusual coming-of-age tale about two 12-year-olds turning into adults prematurely as they end up in an apartment with a young girl and two grown men. The movie was screened in the Berlinale Forum, and Czech film critics honoured Omerzu with the Discovery of the Year Award in 2012.

Endorfilm is producing Family Film, which has an estimated budget of €1.4 million. The director penned the script along with Nebojša Pop-Tasić. The official synopsis of the film is as follows: “A couple goes sailing across the ocean, leaving their two children at home. The children’s seemingly carefree life is disrupted by a sense of fear when they lose touch with their parents. The boat then capsizes and their dog goes missing. The parents return home only to find that their son needs a kidney transplant and, as it turns out, the husband is not the boy’s biological father...”

The excellent Czech actor Karel Roden, who is now enjoying a considerable international reputation, has already been cast for one of the roles, as have Vanda Hybnerová and Martin Pechlát. The shoot kicked off on 13 August, and the first tranche, which took place in Prague, ended on 28 September. From 4 October until the end of this month, the crew will be filming in Thailand; after their return, several more scenes will again be filmed in Prague before the wrap. The movie is provisionally scheduled to premiere in February 2015.

The project is co-produced by Slovenia (Arsmedia), Germany (42Film), Slovakia (Punkchart Films), France (Rouge International) and Croatia (Studio Dim), and has been supported by the Eurimages fund. The film has also received support from the Czech State Cinematography Fund, the Slovak Audiovisual Fund, the Slovenian Film Center, MDM Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung and the MEDIA Programme
