Since last Tuesday, Fejria Deliba has been in Orléans shooting her feature debut, D'une pierre, deux coups [+see also:

The actress (who has performed for such directors as Olivier Assayas, Jacques Rivette, Jean Claude Brisseau, Sarah Leonor and Yamina Benguigui) already stepped behind the camera for a short film that turned a lot of heads: Le petit chat est mort (lit. “The Little Cat Is Dead” – winner of the Grand Prix at the Clermont-Ferrand Festival in 1992 and named Best Short Film of the Year by the French Union of Film Critics). For her new opus, the filmmaker has assembled a cast including Milouda Chaqiq (best known as a poetry-slam artist), Brigitte Roüan (who attracted a lot of attention recently in Love at First Fight [+see also:

Written by the director herself, the story revolves around Zayane Millia, a 75-year-old Algerian immigrant. She is a widow and a mother to many children, and leads a simple and ordinary life on the council estate where she lives – that is, until the day she receives a letter that will turn her routine upside down and take her several kilometres beyond the bounds of her estate, which she has never crossed until now...

Produced by the always-active Thierry Lenouvel for Ciné Sud Promotion (read the article), D'une pierre, deux coups will be co-produced by Transpalux (Didier Diaz). The feature is benefiting from an advance on receipts from the CNC and is backed by the Centre region and the Gan Foundation for Cinema.
