12 debut feature film projects were chosen from 67 applications within the framework of the "incubator program" launched in July by the Hungarian National Film Fund (HNFF) to support young talented filmmakers. Chosen by a jury including filmmakers Ildikó Enyedi (who won the Camera d'Or at Cannes in 1989) and Yvonne Kerékgyártó (awarded last year at the SXSW in Austin with Free Entry [+see also:

film profile]), and producers Ági Pataki (Filmpartners), Viktória Petrányi (Proton Cinema) and Ferenc Pusztai (KMH Film), the 12 projects will now be pitched at a forum day bringing together Hungarian film industry professionals, and five will be chosen for screenplay development workshops and financial support for production in 2016 from the HNFF (up to €200,000 for a fictional film, €265,000 for an animation and €70,000 for a feature documentary, plus a 25% tax credit). The famous Czech film school, FAMU, will also give one of the screenwriters in the running the chance to attend two workshops in June and August next year.

Those whose projects have been chosen are Tibor Bánóczki, Sarolta Szabó, Doraya Bouandel, Zsófi Debreceni, László Csuja, Balázs Dudás, Csaba Vékes, Bálint Gelley, Cristina Grosan, Mihály Schwechtje, Balázs Simonyi, Zsófia Szilágyi, Petra Szőcs, Dorottya Zurbó and Zsófia Zsemberi.

Five films will be produced next year within the framework of the incubator program, which will be made into a permanent fixture by the HNFF in years to come. And the support doesn’t stop there, as the Film Fund will also support professionals in developing distribution and marketing strategies.
