Adapted from the François d'Epenoux novel, the screenplay is co-written by Olivier Torrès and Becker with collaboration from Epenoux, Jacques Pibarot and Cécile Boisrond. The story centres on Antoine who following a break-up becomes a "Sunday dad". Inexperienced, tender and passionate: a father who struggles, laughs and cries.

After an antidepressant-fuelled descent into hell, he gradually gets back on his feet thanks to his friends, and regains normalcy in his relationship with his three children. He learns, painfully, never to speak ill of their mother, to become an example to them again, to be a parent every other weekend and one day a week. Then he meets Jeanne, a single lawyer full of life…

Les Papas du Dimanche is produced by Ice3 for approximately €4.5m. The budget includes co-production support from Pathé and France 3 Cinéma, pre-acquisitions from Canal + and CinéCinéma, and backing from the Poitou-Charentes region.

Shooting will last eight weeks in La Rochelle and French theatrical distribution will be handled by Pathé.
