Co-scripted by Tardi, Benjamin Legrand and Ekinci, Un Monde Truqué is set in France in 1941, a country stuck in the 19th century, governed by steam power and Napoleon VI. The scholars mysteriously disappear and a young girl, Avril, sets out in search of her parents, two missing scientists.

Produced by Marc Jousset for Je Suis Bien Content, Un Monde Truqué will be co-produced by Studio Canal (which will also handle French distribution and international sales), Belgium (Need Productions) and Canada. Ile-De-France will fund the film to the tune of €345,000 out of an overall budget of €10.5m.

Standing out among the other projects supported by Ile-de-France are Valérie Donzelli’s Main dans la Main (“Hand In Hand”, see newsRectangle Productions – €328,000 in funding); Pascal Bonitzer’s Cherchez Hortense (“Look For Hortense”, see news - SBS Films – €394,000); Anne Fassio’s L’Amérique (Paradis Films – €197,000); Eric Pineda’s Les Intrus (“The Intruders”, Les Films de la Strada – €427,000); Noémie Lvovsky’s Camille Redouble (“Camille Repeats A Year”, see news - F Comme Film); Yossi Aviram’s The Dune (Les Films du Poisson – €263,000); and the latest, as-yet-untitled film by Yvan Attal (see news – Les Films du 24 – €361,000).
