François Ozon shoots Jeune et jolie
by Fabien Lemercier
28/06/2012 - François Ozon (photo), who makes one film after another with the regularity of clockwork, this week started shooting his 14th feature, Jeune et jolie (lit. “Young and pretty”), in the department of the Var in the South of France. He has chosen a closed-off film set and a media blackout for this film of which we only know the subject: a teenage girl’s sexuality. The cast is said to include Frédéric Pierrot (who was nominated for a 2012 Cesar for best supporting actor in Polisse [trailer, film focus]).
Produced by Eric et Nicolas Altmayer for Mandarin Cinéma (who are now working with Ozon for the third time after Potiche [trailer] and Dans la maison [trailer]), Jeune et jolie, for which filming will continue until August in Paris and in the South of France, is co-produced by France 2 Cinéma. Mars Distribution is to release the film in French cinemas.
On October 10, Mars is set to release Ozon’s 13th feature in France: Dans la maison (read more). This adaptation of a play by Spanish playwright Juan Mayorga is to feature Fabrice Luchini, Kristin Scott-Thomas, Emmanuelle Seigner, Denis Ménochet, and the younger Ernst Umhauer and Bastien Ughetto. The film, probably to make its worldwide premiere at a festival, has been pre-acquired for many territories (including Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Canada, and the United States).
