El Deseo co-produces Martel's new project

El Deseo, the production company of Agustin Almodóvar (Pedro’s brother), will join Buenos Aires-based outfit Lita Stantic to produce the third feature film by acclaimed Argentinean director Lucrecia Martel, La mujer sin cabeza (lit "The Headless Woman").
The $2m film, which will also be backed by Argentina's Film Institute (INCAA), marks the second collaboration between the two production companies, after acclaimed Cannes title The Holy Girl, which brought Martel to the international spotlight. Further collaborations are being negotiated with other European companies in order to secure the budget.
Set in Salta, where Martel had already shot her two previous films, La mujer sin cabeza is a thriller about a woman who kills a dog on the highway and from that point on fails to recognise both the people who approach her and their intentions.
The director is currently casting in Buenos Aires and principal photography is expected to begin in March 2007.
