Chinese director Jia Zhangke will receive the Carrosse d’Or, set to be handed out by the Society of Film Directors (SRF) during the opening ceremony of the 47th Directors’ Fortnight, which will take place from 14-24 May 2015 as part of the 68th Cannes Film Festival.

The Carrosse d’Or recognises a filmmaker chosen for the innovation they show in their movies, and for their boldness and intransigence in their directing and production. Since 2002, it has been bestowed upon such big names as Jacques Rozier, Clint Eastwood, Nanni Moretti, Ousmane Sembene, David Cronenberg, Alain Cavalier, Jim Jarmusch, Naomi Kawase, Agnès Varda, Jafar Panahi, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Jane Campion and Alain Resnais.
